How it Works

TapeSight publishes systematic market signals from bid/ask tape on a fixed equity sleeve.

  1. Stock selection. Each quarter, we select 100 S&P 500 equities based on annual relative price momentum, so signals focus on large-cap, highly liquid names.
  2. Tape analysis. After each market close, our model processes bid/ask tape across these 100 equities to quantify persistent, aggressive, institutional-scale buying.
  3. State output. The model translates that buying pressure into three distinct states:
    • BuyTrend-On — persistent buying initiated
    • BuyTrend-Run — persistent buying sustained
    • BuyTrend-Off — persistent buying concluded

Why a trend turns Off

Every BuyTrend-Off row in the download includes a reason. Most Offs are organic trail exits. Two reasons are forced exits under the published rule:

For your own evaluation, you can keep all Offs as exits, or filter / tag roster_drop and insufficient_tape separately — the reason column is there so you can choose.

Deterministic modeling

TapeSight relies on rule-based microstructure calculations. We do not use black-box AI or generative prediction engines to output signals.

Daily cadence

TapeSight updates state outputs once per day following the market close. Published after the close on the signal date, for use from the next session. There are no intraday alerts or execution prompts.

Live publishing since 2026-09-14. Earlier sessions are sealed reconstructions under the same BuyTrend-On / BuyTrend-Run / BuyTrend-Off rule.

Data publisher standard

TapeSight is a financial data publisher, not a broker-dealer, trading platform, or registered investment adviser.

Every subscriber receives the exact same signal list at the exact same time. The dataset contains only:

We do not provide target prices, stop-loss levels, position sizing, or portfolio management advice. Subscribers maintain complete autonomy over how they integrate TapeSight data into their trading or investing.

Verify and test-drive

Paid plans include a 14-day free trial (card required). We encourage users to download our historical dataset (CSV or JSON) to backtest and evaluate signal utility within their own models, spreadsheets, or AI workflows.

Daily signal logs are anchored with SHA-256 cryptographic checksums. See How to verify history, or request sealed logs at support@tapesight.com.
